2S41“Drok”
82 mm self-propelled mortar on the “Typhoon-VDV” chassisRole
A Russian 82 mm self-propelled mortar on the armoured wheeled K-4386 “Typhoon-VDV” chassis (4×4), developed by TsNII “Burevestnik” together with UVZ. It carries the standard 82 mm 2B24 mortar in a remotely controlled combat module in the rear hull — the crew fires without leaving the armoured capsule. Transition from travel to firing position takes less than a minute, allowing the vehicle to leave the position quickly and reducing the risk of counter-battery fire. The ammunition load is more than 40 rounds (HE OF-50, smoke, illumination); rate of fire is over 10 rounds per minute; range — up to 6 km. Elevation angles are 45—85°, traverse ±35°. For self-defence a remotely controlled cupola with a 7.62 mm PKT machine gun is fitted. The chassis allows road speed over 100 km/h, an operational range of 1 200 km, and small-arms protection of STANAG 4569 level. Adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2023; the first batch was delivered to units in July 2023, with vehicles tested in the Special Military Operation zone.
